Movie Review: Superbad

Superbad

So I went into this movie with pretty low expectations. This movie seemed like one of those movies that shows all of the funny parts in the trailer. Plus the bigger of the two main characters seemed like a bad Jack Black impersonator. But my boyfriend wanted to see it, and it happened to be playing at a convient time, so we went. During the movie, the language was pretty bad, if that sort of thing bothers you. There actually were several hilarious parts, but the plot just drags on, and I found myself caring a lot more about the secondary characters than the main two. I don't know that I ever even learned the main characters' names. McLovin and the cops provide all of the laughs, while the main plotline seems like filler. This movie does do a really good job of letting you relive the awkwardness of highschool, but who really wants to do that? As long as you don't go in with high expectations, this movie won't dissappoint you.

Movable Type Update Again

It's officially working! And it's everything I hoped it would be. This is my first post created using MT. Pair Networks installed it for me, and the whole MT interface seems easy to use once you get the hang of it. The only downside is that if you want to customize the templates, you have to learn a MT syntax, so please excuse the template for a while as I continue to figure this thing out. Yes!

Movable Type Update

What a nightmare. After spending a lot of time online looking for tips and tutorials on how to install MT on a GoDaddy server, I have decided that I will probably just get new hosting with Pair Networks, who is partnered with MT and offers installation and support for like $2/month. Because I don't know any Perl or PHP (yet), I definately need help getting started, even though I plan to eventually figure out how to do that kind of thing myself. I would ask for comments about anyone else's experience with MT, GoDaddy or hosting, but seeing as I have no idea how to add user comments without Movable Type, please email me if you have an opinion or suggestion. My head hurts.

I've heard a lot of great things about Movable Type. Supposedly it is the most powerful blogger's software. Now if only I can figure out how to install it. Things aren't looking good, seeing as I have deleted my cgi-bin (whatever that is) and I'm supposed to put the MT files into it. It doesn't help that every site I reads basically says to run away from hosting through GoDaddy, although they do have the best domain name purchasing service, and for very reasonable costs I might add. I may very well be in over my head, but if I'm going to bother with a blog, I'd like to do it right the first time. So, I will probably continue to neglect the visual design of this site until I can get the backend stuff up and running.
