1,000,000 Strong for Stephen T. Colbert

| | Comments (0) | Digg! digg it?
A group on facebook named "1,000,000 Strong for Stephen T. Colbert" is up to nearly 1,200,000 in only 12 days, making it the fastest growing group in facebook history. By comparison,"Stop Hillary Clinton: (One Million Strong AGAINST Hillary Clinton)" has about 500,000 members after 9 months, and "Barak Obama (One Million Strong for Barak)" is at 380,000 after 10 months. I'm not sure any of this really means anything considering a fairly large percent of facebook users aren't even old enough to vote.

Update: the Dems have kicked Colbert out of the South Carolina primary, but Facebookers just can't let go.

Pumpkin Carving Ideas

Still haven't carved your pumpkin yet? Check out Extreme Pumpkins to get some creative ideas. My favorite is the "conjoined twins" pumpkin.

Ordinary Miracle - CVS Ad

An absolutely beautiful CVS commercial. The spot was made by Acme Filmworks, and is one of the few ads running recently that succeeds by using beautiful imagery and emotional connection, instead of slapstick humor or smug voiceovers. (sorry there is no direct link, click the one on the left once you load the page)

Free Tacos

Taco Bell is giving everyone in America a free taco because a base was stolen in the World Series. Chipotle needs to get in on the fun next year.

Horrible Couples Costumes

Some truly terrible halloween costumes for couples. I'm leaning towards going as "Maid of Money"...

Star Wars Trumpet Solo

A fabulous tribute to Star Wars via a trumpet solo.

Movie Review: Across the Universe

Across the Universe

So I was in Columbus for Gallery Hop with Lindsey and Rachel, my friends who I usually watch weird art films with, so of course we had to go see this one to complete our Art Night. My expectations were pretty high after seing the absolutely beautiful trailer, but I'm not a hardcore Beatles fan so I wasn't sure I would get all the references. In the end it didn't seem to matter. The characters seemed a little flat during the straight acting parts, but the music scenes are awesome. The colors and special effects really make this movie feel magical. And the bowling scene is amazingly fun. I couldn't stop smiling. Great choreography. Anyone who likes the Beatles or beautiful movies will love Across the Universe.
