Better Late Than Never

Today I made my very first purchase on Ebay. I know I am about ten years later than everyone else, so I feel silly sharing my excitement about it, but Ebay is awesome! I was able to find an item that was sold out on every other reputable website I could find, and I got it for 20% off retail. Buying stuff on there is kind of intimidating at first, but I love how it bids for you... genius! I didn't expect it to be such an emotional experience; obsessively refreshing the page in the last few minutes to make sure you are still winning, and the sense of acomplishment when the auction ended. I think Ebay could be very addictive. It feels nice to finally be on the cutting edge of 1999.

Go Bearcats! We're (Hopefully) Going to the Orange Bowl!

Congrats to the UC football team for giving Cincinnati football fans something to watch this season! I never thought I would see a UC game where thousands of people stormed the field at the finish. I only wish I wasn't getting my tonsils out so I could go to Miami and watch the big game!

Update: I thought we were definitely going to the Orange Bowl after winning last night. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when today I wake up and learn we still have to beat Syracuse and THEN we can go...  Bummer. Well, no problem. How hard can that be? Sunny Miami, here we come. :)

We've been hacked!

Even though the Bengals are awful this year, I am still excited about tonight's game against our arch nemesis: the Steelers. We tend to play well against awesome teams, and get killed by crappy ones, so I am still holding out hope for tonight. So, of course, I went to WhoDey Revolution today to get the update on the lastest plan for embarassing Mike Brown into getting us a GM, and ITS BEEN HACKED BY THE STEELERS. Booo! It annoys me because Steelers are a constant pain in our Bengal sides, but I had to laugh at their posts. Mainly they are cheering on Mike Brown for giving them 2 easy wins every year. Can't say I blame them. Touché, Steelers. But tomorrow, give us our site back. Please?

(There is talk that this is all fake... and it might be due to the self-deprecating self-references about the Steelers, but either way its funny)

So the Bengals are in the midst of yet another crappy season with no long term improvement in sight. If you feel the need to vent, get on over to Who-Dey Revolution, a group with mission: to get our Bengals to the Super Bowl! And they are targeting the root of the problem: Mike Brown.

To understand how dire our situation is, fans, check out the "By the Numbers" section:

17 - Years since the Bengals have won a playoff game

0 - Total number of playoff wins in Mike Brown's tenure as owner

.348 - Bengals regular season winning percentage since Mike Brown took over as owner (97-181 in 17 seasons)

15-23 - Record since 2005 playoff game vs Steelers

6 - Seasons the Bengals have lost their first six games since 1991. No other team has more than two.

0 - Teams North of Cincinnati without an indoor practice facility

10 - Players arrested in a 14 month span from 2005-2006

32 - Mike Brown's ranking, out of 32, of the "Best Owners in the NFL" by Michael Silver of Sports Illustrated in 2007

While sitting at home with a bad cold, I was aimlessly browsing the interwebs to pass the time when I ran across this:

Google Flu Trends:

We've found that certain search terms are good indicators of flu activity. Google Flu Trends uses aggregated Google search data to estimate flu activity in your state up to two weeks faster than traditional systems.

Check out this election day remake of TI's "Whatever You Like". It was written and performed by seventh graders, and they did an AWESOME job. Very creative!
